rise in cost of hygienist appointments
Like every home and business we're experiencing tough times financially with rising energy costs and inflation. This means that the running costs of our dental practice are increasing significantly.
To help meet these rising expenses we have taken the decision to increase our hygienist appointment prices from £35 to £40 for a 30 minute appointment.
Any decision such as this is not taken lightly and we are aware of the potential impact this may have on our patients. Although, we would like to point out that for our paying NHS patients suffering from periodontitis (gum disease), your treatment with the hygienist privately is still cheaper than the band 2 cost on the NHS, i.e. private is £40 and the NHS band payment from band 1 to band 2 is £44.20.
In the meantime, the co-owners are working hard to improve the availability of our hygienist team for our patients and upscale the equipment and treatments used in surgery.
For those who already have hygienist appointments booked in the diary, our management will be contacting you via text message to notify you of the change before it is brought into effect from the start of May 2023.
Thank you in advance for your support on this matter

Increase in NHS dental charges for patients
As of the 24th April 2023, the NHS has informed all of its dental practices that there will be an increase in the charges for NHS dental treatment for our patients.
This has resulted in band 1 payments rising from £23.80 to £25.80, band 2 rising from £65.20 to £70.70 and a band 3 course of treatment rising from £282.80 to £306.80.
If you are currently undergoing a course of treatment, provided your dental examination was carried out before the 24th April 2023, your payments will remain at the previous fees.

NEW COMPUTER SOFTWARE SYSTEM
From the 17th April 2023, we at Balls Road Dental Practice have brought in a new computer software system to help improve the patient experience at the practice.
This new system will allow us to cut down on the amount of paper we use, move the practice into a more digital era, ensure text message and email reminders for appointments and improve the process of informed consent for your treatments moving forward (discussing pros and cons of treatment and any risks associated with your dental treatment).
As this system goes through its "teething" process at the practice there will be some changes to how we operate in the reception/waiting area. If you require any help or support, our friendly staff are more than happy to help you, so please do not be afraid to ask for assistance. Please be patient with some our staff during this time, as some are working with this new system for the very first time, and fellow patients too.
